the secret life

Jan 26, 2009 1
there has only been one show where i watched RELIGIOUSLY in my lifetime, and that was alias . with alias, not only did i have to watch it every night, but i also bought all the books and DVD seasons. since alias ended, i hadn't found an american series that i deemed worthy enough to watch religiously. sure, i had the average favorites where if i missed a couple of episodes, it wouldn't matter. until very recently, i became obsessed with [yes, an obsession] with the secret life of the american teenager. granted that it's a long ass title, i love the show because it's different from what we've been used to appearing on TV. yeah, some people might like the hills, the OC, gossip girls, but it's not realistic. on the hills, it seems like everyone knows its fake except lauren. the gossip girls--everyone's too rich. they all act like they're late thirties.

the secret life is about a 15-year-old who gets pregnant from a one-night stand with the drummer in band camp. what better place than band camp?! so the story goes on about amy [pregnant teen] and how she learns to deal with being pregnant and going to high school at the same time. shailene woodley  [pronounced as shay-lene]who plays amy in the secret life does a great job portraying this girl who's unsure about what to do next and is just being an annoying, hormonal 15-year-old who still needs to deal with backstabbing and looking fat in her clothes. what's even better?
molly ringwald plays shailene woodley's mother. molly ringwald was the best child actress of her time, and now she makes a break through performance as amy's mother who's trying to deal with a marriage that's falling apart and two teenage daughters. p.s. molly ringwald is pregnant with twins in real life--meaning that they'll add it into the plot for the secret life! a mother/daughter pregnancy!

i have bought the first season on itunes, and now am consistently downloading it's second season. it's worth the watch because it's done so perfectly about what really goes on. even though i'm not in high school anymore, i still prefer the realistic nature of this than shows that are meant to target people in my age group.

give it a shot! watch it and i bet you that you wouldn't be able to take your eyes off it.

this mother daughter duo really works well on screen. they both do an amazing job.

call me...pixie dinks

Jan 24, 2009 2
i can't stress how important it is to get names right. there are two main things [that i can think of right now] that are VERY important--that you must never get wrong when naming things.

BABY NAMES
some of you aren't there yet, but you will. maybe then, through all that labor pain or even before that, through all those hormones, you might just go with the wrong name; names like, trixie bell, sailor, pixie, homer, nico, starshine, or brawley. [celebrity baby names] because lets face it, 9 out of 10 of you will not be able to make as much money as these celebrities will in your lifetime, therefore, your kids will get made fun of because they're probably not going to be popular.

SOLUTION?
please pick some more common names. if you wanted to be a little less conventional, go with names like dakota, shailene, jaden, zak, chase, or even ava. you want to help your kids minimize the percentage of being made fun of at all costs. BUT if you pop out a good looking kid it doesn't really matter what the heck you name them since their good looks will probably make it up.

EMAIL NAMES
i just had to change my gmail name and so i can tell you that it just plain sucks. im sure a lot you guys have gone through this process at least once in your life before because you hated your email name either because it was just too childish for your age at the moment or, like me, it has caused you some sort of embarrassment.

SOLUTION?
try and pick some universal names that you can see yourself still using in a couple of years from now. the suggestions that those programs generate are pretty lame, i have to admit, but you should consider using your name for emails that you need for professional business [ie. schools or work]. you dont want to use emails like sizzling8rl for venues like work. what kind of impression are you looking for??

15 days late

Jan 15, 2009 1
ok, so i'm fifteen days late but NEW YEARS RESOLUTIONS! have any? cause i don't have any.

i personally don't believe in them because you're just setting yourself up for a bigger disappointment. god knows no one really goes through with their resolutions. i'll give you at two weeks to a month before anyone gives up. some of them are ridiculous though, have you heard some of them?
well here is a top five list, that i know most people always have somewhere on their list.

  1. lose weight / go to the gym - EVERYONE has had this on their list at least once. think about it. how sad is that? if  all of america has thought of this at least once in their lifetime, even the innately skinny, then how bad does our self image have to be? it's even sadder to know that even though we know we should lose the "obesity" in america, no one does it because we end up going out one too many for that burger or pizza, two weeks after we've said "i need to lose weight, i feel like my arteries are clogging"
  2. quit smoking / quit drinking - smoking i can see why you would want to quit. but quitting drinking all together?! WHY?! what happened to one glass of wine a day with that steak?! talk about losing weight and losing that urge to drink...
  3. get out of debt - okay, let's be honest here...if you're going to over spend with your credit card the night before news years, most likely, you won't underspend the next day after the ball drops.
  4. help others - have you ever watched that show "what would you do?" hosted by john quinones? its possible. his show gives me hope.
  5. learn something new - i laugh---on the inside---whenever someone tells me this one. technically you're learning something new every day, and if you don't realize it, then you're pretty dumb and saying this is your new years resolution is just proclaiming that fact. if you were to say, do something new every day like anne hathaway did, then that'd be okay. [she blew out birthday cake candles with a fire extinguisher on jimmy kimmel!]

jin, but gin tastes good too

Jan 9, 2009 4
im not one for rap. i dont like the lyrics most of the time, because half the time i can't understand them, but also because they're pretty much vulgar when i CAN hear them. so i never notice this category and i can't really name any rappers for you except for 50 cent. my cousin was talking to me about some chinese rapper last night, raving to me about how good he was. i said i've heard of him before, but i never paid attention. im talking about

jin au-yeung

if you don't live under a rock like me, you'll probably have seen him competing in Freestyle Friday (BET). right, my eyebrows came up at the sound of BET too. why is this chinese guy rapping with a whole bunch of black guys? you don't expect a chinese guy to rap because we stink at rapping, no doubt about it. i was skeptical when i listened to jin rap but i have to admit, he put a smile on my face, and a big bonus was--i could hear him

PCA's

to be honest, i wasn't sure if carrie underwood was going to win the favorite female singer award since she was up against rihanna and alicia keys who both have an amazing fan base. but like always, carrie always ends pulls through and she swept the award show, winning in all three categories! and to top it off, her performance was as good as ever
so that's one for favorite female singer
one for favorite star under 35
and one for favorite country song

amazing :]
