circle of friends

Dec 17, 2008
SCENARIO:

you're going out with two other good friends of yours. and after all the shopping, movie, whatever you do when you go out, you end up going to lunch/dinner. the waiter takes you to a rectangular table for four and both of your friends takes a seat on either side, scooting over one to make room for you.

DILEMA:

what the freak do you do?

PROBLEM:

if you take one side and sit down, then  your other friend, whom you didn't sit with will think:
  1. "oh my gosh, she doesn't like me. she likes yada-yada better!"
  2. "oh god, is it because i smell?"
DILEMA:

what the freak do you do?

i was faced with exactly the same situation the other day, and both girls were good friends of mine. i wasn't friends with one more than the other, so what did i do?
I sat at the head of the table.

you could spare your good friends from thinking that you've gotten lame of them, or that they have any kind of body odor and just be neutral. either that, or you request a circular table. that way, everyone is sitting with everyone and no arguments. viola
