where have all the ... semester days ... gone??

Mar 25, 2008 0
do you realize that we only have 36 days of school left?
well, let me rephrase that, I ONLY HAVE 36 DAYS OF SCHOOL LEFT! [im not counting weekends --> so please, don't say no, you have yada yada yada days left. - no, screw you]

i have NO IDEA whatsoever where my sophomore year went... i mean, i know i went to classes and i know i took exams, but. what?

--------------------------------------------

lets talk about spring break. i did absolutely nothing and it was the worst time i've had. EXCEPT for the fact that i watched The Seventh Day, finished it, and loved it. i hope ya'll had fun and went on cruises or road trips or whatever.

i really did like the way Bosco and Natalie communicated with each other on screen, i thought they balanced each other real well. but i do have something to say about their story line, no matter how much i love that natalie had perhaps just won "the favorite breakthrough actress" for me.

did their story remind you of each other??

it certainly did for me. How to Lose A Guy In 10 Days has been a FAVORITE film of mine when it came out all the way till now. i love the idea of the story and i love the chemistry that Matthew McConaughey and Kate Hudson had. so when i watched The Seventh Day, and saw the similarity with HTLAGI10D [isn't that a funny abbreviation?!] i wasn't all that disappointed. i mean, i was bummed that TVB couldn't think of their own story plots, but i loved loved loved how well Bosco Wong and Natalie Tong were both with each other.

similar story plots

  1. Natalie Tong plays a sassy comic writer/drawer. She has problems with coming up with topics and uses her friends' stories to help give her inspirations. She has a posse that help her and encourage her on when the feelings start to arouse her senses for romance.
  2. Bosco Wong is a handsome guy with a posse that is less witty than he. He has a motive for dating Natalie and stays on with her even though some of the things she does is way beyond normal girlfriend behavior.
  3. Both end up falling for each other and they find out their ulterior motives for each other in the end...with a happy ending. [go figure]
  • Kate Hudson is a magazine columnist for the highest selling woman's magazine in NYC. she has dreams to write about politics but her boss only allows her to write about shoes, bags and whatnot. she uses her friend michelle's breakup story as a base for her new column on how to lose a guy in 10 days. ["5 is too short, and we go to press in 11"] she vows to use only the mistakes that girls often use by accident to drive away an unsuspecting guy.
  • she has all these horrible things done to Matthew's character, but he doesn't budge, because he has a bet with his boss that he could make a girl fall in love with him in 10 days.
so you can see the similarities even just by skimming the surface. some of the things that they do to each other are very similar too [like, taking each other to a concert instead of a game, or interrupting his boys night. etc.]
so over all, snaps to Natalie for portraying this crazy one woman circus role. loved her. maybe after this, TVB will give her more main actress roles instead of being the cameo all the time.

that's FIERCE!

im gonna do a mini plug here:

my good friend's aunt just opened up her own children's clothing line

check it out --> Lemon Loves Lime

whoops

so, as i am in the midst -- knee deep in midterms -- i decided that i needed a break and went out to philly to have some shopping and dinner... it ended up pouring buckets of water. but that's fine. i needed to get out, i was desperate.
so, friend and i were at the subway - the PATCO - and we were talking ... and i was swinging my umbrella ... and [GASP]

me: "MY UMBRELLA!"
friend: [points and laugh]

so my umbrella ends up lodged in between the train tracks, the handle extended all the way out, sticking out of the tracks. THEN, i look up and i see the freakin train coming.

me: "god i hope i dont break the subway"
friend: [still laughing]

the good thing is, i DIDNT break it. i was so scared i was. i could imagine it. "Daily News --> This girl broke the subway with her umbrella"

his holiness returns

OMG my favorite game show is FINALLY returning!!!!

獎門人取犀
[this is a youtube video. click it]

it took them long enough, but i hope that with the time they took off, they went and found some more entertaining games. Eric Tsang has always been the only celebrity who had the green light to make fun of celebrities of all class, and im dying to see what kind of nonsense he's going to put them through.

hosts: this time around, the only person who stayed was Chin Ka Lok. he was funny and i think having him around would give the celebrities something a little more to be afraid about. between him and eric tsang, there is nothing that escapes them. but i really would have liked jerry lam to have come back, because i thought that he was absolutely without a doubt, more funny than chin ka lok. jerry and chin ka lok play off of each other really well, and the improv that they both come up with works.

there is also Wong Cho Lam this year. i dont know how well he will be with teasing and getting things out of the celebrities, because he's funny on his own. like, he's great at imitating voices and whatever, but i doubt he will be funny with OTHER PEOPLE.

then there's Louis Yuen which throws all the dynamics out the window. he's loud, pushy, and funny in a rude way. i dont know how much comments celebrities are going to get in with louis in the works.

all in all, im super stoked for the show to be back. however, i do see some stealing from other shows from taiwan and japan in the trailer, and i dont know how funny that will be since its not all quite original. lets cross our fingers for eric tsang to bring back what he's known for, embarrassing humor.

inspiration doesn't have to be from happy stories. it could come from people who have incredible strength; who've managed to find it through their own life horrors

girls and their SUPER long hair

Mar 4, 2008 0
THE DISADVANTAGES OF HAVING SUPER LONG HAIR:

1. YOUR HAIR COULD GET CAUGHT IN DOORS
and that means any type of door. whether it be the car door when its a windy day and you shut it on a strand of hair; the revolving doors which could make it get stuck while you are revolving...without your hair
2. IT'S A WEAPON FOR OTHER PEOPLE
i was reading robert browning in my irish lit class, and apparently, the lover guy in the poem had used his lover girl's long hair to strangle her. it's not a good thing. [autopsy report --> cause of death: strangulation by own hair...] how weird is that
3. IT COULD CATCH ON FIRE
i dont know how many countless "funny videos" i've seen where a girl with long hair has her hair catch on fire. it's not funny...when you're that girl. granted that it could be hilarious for people watching...but these are the kinds of moments you tend to catch on video and then that poor girl would have to watch it over and over and over again
4. YOU'D TUG ON IT DURING YOUR SLEEP
i have boob length hair, and already i sleep on my hair by accident sometimes and it bugs the crap out of me. its the most irritating feeling when your hair gets stuck underneath yourself. its another story when someone else sleeps on it, but when its yourself, you'll tend to feel a little retarded
5. IT'LL TAKE AN HOUR TO WASH AND AN HOUR TO DRY
imagine how much shampoo you'd waste washing those locks and how much time you'd have to stand there in front of the mirror to get your hair to dry in perfect. and god forbid, you can't let it dry naturally since you'll get really bad headaches when you get older...or so says the chinese mother
