its true...that chinese proverb that says: whatever is not yours, will never be yours.

i believe horribly in fate, and i've just been schooled, and i can say that i definitely feel upset at myself, and disappointed that i could let it get past me like that.

i hate to say it, but no matter how much i want to deny it, i know my mother has been right since day one. i'm not cut out for that stuff, and ... mom knows best right?

perhaps this door has closed on me, but i'm eager to find out if another door will open for me where i found the last one to be closed. i hope that my feelings of disappointment have not been wasted; i want to find something better at the other door.

my english drama professor is really starting to piss me off.

i spent time writing out a paper for him, and he loved it! he wrote to me that i brought up some interesting points in my essay and that i wrote out my thoughts very nicely. he gave me an 18 out of 20 meaning that i got a 90. i was so happy that i got an A. then he goes, let me write down how my grades translate.

he writes:
A+ = 100
A- = 95
B+ = 90
B- = 85

...so forth. i was, needless to say, PISSED OFF. how is a 90 a B+?!

THEN, there was this worksheet on a drama that we had to do for one morning, and i did it. read the damn play. hated it. whatever. then i get it back, and he does the SAME FREAKIN THING.

"kasie, your writing is superb. i can see you have a lot of talent. good job on your work."
he gives me a 3 out of 5. but what makes me mad is that the guy who sits next to me who had copied some of my sentences, and DIDN'T READ, got a 4 out of 5.

i really wanted to shout at him, what the hell are you smoking?!

so last night was the oscars. i felt like a lot of people didn't try to look their best (probably because no one thought that there would be an oscars because of the writer's strike) BUT STILL

what some of these people wore! they're stylists should get fired for letting them walk out of the house like that. [for those that don't know, the celebrity names are also links to show you what they wore/who they are]

Hits
Jessica Alba - her dress flowed nicely down her growing belly which made her look all the more elegant. she was simply glowing. loved the feathers there because it wasn't too much and it helped to distract her large maternity bosoms.
Jason Bateman - a lot of the men look very similar due to the fact that there aren't much designs for a tuxedo. a tux is a tux. be he looks absolutely gorgeous.
Cate Blanchett - i love, love, LOVED her dress on her. it was elegant and comfortable, something a woman as pregnant as her is aiming to achieve for an award show that lasts for four freakin hours.
Steve Carrell - again, another regular tux. but he was funny, so i give him credit for that.
Kristin Chenoweth - loved her dress. i think hers was the best, actually. she's short, and her dress framed her real well, giving her curves in all the right places.
George Cloony - i didn't like him so much this time, but i thought his girlfriend's dress was beautiful. usually floral dresses are a disaster, but hers was nicely done.
Patrick Dempsey - mr. mcdreamy, or mcsteamy...whatever the hell his nickname is, he was sure one of these last night.
Jennifer Garner - has always and will be a favorite of mine. she always hits with her oscar gowns, last night was no exception for her. but WHERE WAS BEN?! i'd give him extra points if he let his wife go to the oscars and he stayed home to be with little Violet Affleck

but of course, there was one that stood above the rest...the absolutely, without a doubt, worst dress of the night. she won an award for best supporting actress (god knows why) but she also won my vote for worst dressed on the red carpet. congratulations TILDA SWINTON. better known for her role as the ice queen in Narnia, she will now always go into my book as the black toga lady at the oscars. really, why would you wear something like that to an event as glamourous as the oscars? that dress not only has no shape on her lanky body, but it also has no design on it, no pattern, ... it just looks awful. her stylist should really be fired for not telling her that she looks like a stick in it. her stylists needs a stick up her ass

and

you can't forget the musicals of the night. i loved all of them, but HELLO Jon McLaughlin ... where did you come from?! gosh is he cute and it really helps that his voice is irresistible.

Feb 21, 2008 0
there has been this one thing that i've wanted to do since last year.
i won't tell you what it is just yet, [to save my face when i fail] lol. but i want to do a count down. and when i'm ready, i'll share with all you guys, what is it. im actually really stoked about it and i can't wait till this clears for me.
but i want to start counting down to the day the application is released, and then start another count ... not down, but i guess... up? or...well until i get some news back. bear with me guys!

its funny how drastic our wants and needs change with the way we grow up. thought of this last night at 5 in the morning because my roommate's stupid phone went off at 5 for an alarm she had drunkenly set...but couldn't hear. so i was just lying wide awake in my bed, thinking about this...

batteries. yeah, that's right. i needed AA batteries when i was younger for toys and whatnot. but now, i find myself needing more AAA batteries for my dumb calculator...far from being a fun toy. maybe its a foreshadowing of when i get my own kids; that i'll be needing AAA car service a lot to help me and my kids from being stranded on the side of some road.

ni hao, kai-lan!!

Feb 13, 2008 0

and just because im so excited for this new show, im doing a double post...just to prove it.
nick  jr. (our american television show for children) has come out with a CHINESE version of something like Dora the Explorer. how cute is that?!
yeah...there's so many chinese people, that a tv show has to be made about it, just so we chinese people won't eat everyone up.
but i have to say, the title, ni hao, kai-lan is long and retarded. why can't it just be like, kai-lan the explorer? i dont really know what the story plot is, but it's supposed to promote that being american means being bilingual and bicultural. i seriously hope that this show will bring a better understanding to those white kids who aren't mutts in culture or language so that they can stop going around saying 'ching chang chong' --i still don't know waht the hell that means.

weather

this weather is weirding me out. i feel like there's someone turning on and off a light switch.

ON - FREEZE
OFF - tease you with some nice sun rays

it was HAILING yesterday where i was...and then it started to rain. what the freak. someone was saying to me how it's always romantic when it rains, and i was thinking as she talked - maybe rain when it's warm (much like, shower temperature) would be nice. but hail and rain? thats far from being romantic.

*weather is not a good conversation, neither does it make a good blog entry. but i don't care, because i think its funny.*

i had a nice five minute conversation with a friend the other day JUST on weather...now that's a little unacceptable.

AIM IM with friend
friend - yo, whats up
hows life

me - hows life?
lol
its general
how's yours

friend - oh, man, mines quite general
how conincidental
minus the spelling inablility
ive been well though, enjoying the wonderful cold outside in rochester
driving in the snow
suffering in physics
growing and getting pwned by God
yea

me - how much snow do you have there?

friend - not much now
maybe 2 inches or so
but its hard to measure
lots of wind last night so its blown everywhere
and being like 10deg dosent help either cause it wont melt even in the blazing sun on the black asphalt

me - today and yesterday for us was super cold
like, it hurt
but we haven't had snow
it flurried yesterday
but, then it disappeared

friend - oh?
but it was frigid too?
yea, martin didnt have school today
cause windchill this morning was -20F

me - lol

friend - yea, but i still had to walk to class in it

[i'm sorry friend, i still have you as my friend, but i have to say, you talk funny]

sex is the new sleep

Feb 10, 2008 0
or so says my facebook group.

what's the big deal about sex? the latest thing that's got the hong kong public going bonkers is that thing with edison chen, bobo chan, gillian chung, and cecelia cheung. granted that edison was stupid for leaving those photos on his computer because GOD knows that people will look through your files and steal them especially since you're rich AND A celebrity...

but...he wasn't smart enough, and it leaked out. BIG DEAL. my favorite tween queen vanessa hudgens had something similar happen to her, and guess what? not only did disney not fire her, but they let her apologize and move on. does the hong kong public really expect these people NOT to be having sex? you can't be more naive than that...

i agree that a girl should never let her significant other take nude pictures/videos of her because 1] brace yourself that you might break up with him one day, and he can use those against you 2] even if you don't break up, these kinds of things always find a way to surf up on the net.

but in the case of EC,BC,GC and CC, these photos were taken in private and meant to be private. its sad that they went public, but i think [like before] that the hong kong audience needs to open up a bit more, and realize that the world is changing. you can't expect them all to be innocent and virgins. it's good to expect that in a role model, but what they do in their PRIVATE LIVES is PRIVATE.

i stick by my words when i say that vanessa hudgens is not a bad person/role model, and i'm sure these girls aren't that way either, just because of some photos they took. you can't condemn them.

i love how the entertainment business can love you so much one minute and then treat you like trash the next when you've done something remotely wrong.

RATS

Feb 6, 2008 0
happy chinese new year!

[i heard that they like to put that animal on parade each year. like, dog year, they had a bunch of people come parade with their furry friends, but what about this year? i ain't gonna be there if they let loose a jabillion rats in the street...]

girls - get prettier each year
boys - get stronger each year
old people - live longer!

i indubitably wish that i were there instead of here doing homework

congrats to the giants for their brilliant win last night at the superbowl!!

*that was perhaps the best final moments i've seen. manning had been attacked by so many people but he still got away with it! someone had him by his shirt, and he was still running. and then that superb catch by tyree. he had caught it, and then was attacked so the ball was about to roll off his helmet, but he caught on to it. how cool is that?! but tyree didn't make the winning catch, burress did

but i really only watched the first hour and then the last 8 minutes of the game. but i did enjoy all the commercials.
BUT my favorites by far, were these two, no doubt about it.

i honestly feel bad for those overseas people who do not get to enjoy the superbowl as us americans do...you're missing out
